Learning and living are better in a healthy environment
We’re working hard to make school furniture that contributes to a healthy environment. That’s why we’re examining and evaluating the materials that go into them and taking their environmental impacts into account.
Do the materials come from sustainable sources?
Will the products have a healthy effect on the classroom?
Can the waste be recycled?
Optimizing the materials
The wood product that makes up our desktops is produced from 100% recycled and recovered wood fiber. This product is renewable and sustainable.
Our vendor harvests the wood fiber from forestland certified by the Forest Stewardship Council.
The high-pressure Wilsonart® laminate on our desks and tables has received GREENGUARD Indoor Air Quality Certification, assuring it has minimal impact on the indoor air environment.
Most of our chairs are made of polypropylene plastics which means any waste material created during manufacturing can be recycled. Once these chairs reach the end of their useful lives, they are 99% recyclable – everything but the glides or casters.
Our steel book trucks, are 99% recyclable—everything but the 4-in. casters.
Made for a longer life.
Building furniture to last longer, adds to its useful life. This common sense approach to manufacturing has the contemporary advantage of postponing resources from being used to replace the original products. It also keeps the non-recyclable parts of the original furniture out of landfills longer.
