Triangular-Shaped Desks Boast Ample Individual Workspace, Countless Grouping Options in Compact Spaces

Smith System’s Interchange™ Wing Desk enables individual and collaborative workspaces in the evolving classroom environment

Interchange Line

PLANO, TEXAS – (March 30, 2010) – The changing classroom dynamics requires school furniture to be flexible for different configurations over the course of the day or semester. To support the vast learning landscapes, Smith System has expanded its Interchange Series line of school desks with the addition of the Interchange Wing Desk.

The Interchange Wing Desk sports a triangular-shaped desktop that provides an ample, stable workspace for individual activities such as testing and lectures. When the lesson shifts from individual work to group projects, the Interchange Wing Desk can be intuitively arranged in groups of two, a circle of four, a cluster of six or a linear arrangement of eight — all ideal configurations for collaborative work.

“Today’s lesson plans require school furniture to be versatile to support multiple activities throughout the day — from group studying to individual testing,” says Bill Risdall, vice president of marketing for Smith System. “The Interchange Wing Desk brings this versatility to classrooms of all sizes and types, allowing the furniture to be a seamlessly supportive element of lesson plans.”

In addition to function, the Interchange Wing Desk’s distinctive shape makes it an attractive addition to any modern classroom. The school desk features a high-pressure laminate desktop available in 10 Quick Ship colors, bumper edges in 18 colors, and a combination rugged powdercoat and chrome-plated legs that resist scuffing. The Interchange Wing Desk can also be purchased as an Interchange Open Front Wing Desk, which features a built-in bookbox with an integrated pencil tray for convenient storage of lesson materials.
