Plano, TX (June 2, 2005) – Smith System, a leading manufacturer of school furniture and accessories announces a new lockable cart that holds and charges up to 15 laptop computers simultaneously. Combining secure storage and transportation of laptops with the added convenience of recharging their batteries, the new Smith System cart is constructed of 18-gauge steel; its shelves and top are covered with a 1/8-inch thick rubber mat to protect the surfaces from scratching.
The new laptop cart features an electrical panel with 15 UL listed electrical outputs and a 15-amp breaker facilitates laptop recharging. The extra large plugs found on computer chargers were taken into account; ample space surrounds the outlets. Access to the outlets comes via a panel on the rear of the cart. It locks for security and has a 1-1/2-inch grommet hole to provide electrical access, as well as ventilation holes to prevent heat from building up inside.
In the front of the cart, two wide doors swing open a full 270 degrees to make loading and unloading the laptops easier. The front doors also lock shut. The whole unit rolls on four-inch dual-wheel casters, two of which lock.
