Modern facilities and techniques collide with old-fashioned craftsmanship
The result? Near indestructibility. At least, that's the goal at Smith System manufacturing facilities, where we've built a reputation for the industry's most sophisticated manufacturing processes. It stems from a strong commitment to producing classroom, library and computer furniture and booktrucks that set the standard for durability as well as functionality.
The dedicated craftspeople who make Smith System furniture have the kind of pride was common when we started business in 1905, but is all too hard to find today. The difference is, now we have much more sophisticated tools, more consistent materials and better designs to work with. Today, even the old timers would envy our quality and efficiency.
The Smith System manufacturing facility in Plano, Texas consists of 143,000 square feet of manufacturing, warehouse and administrative space. Most of our classroom furniture and educational computer furniture passes through here.
What perfectionists build
High-quality, highly functional, durable furniture for today's school. Each Smith System component offers maximum adjustability and maximum wire management capabilities. All work surfaces are finished with high-pressure plastic laminate - the hardest, most durable surface available. Feet are finished with 5 mils of chrome, a finish that will outlast anything else. And the bumper edge on each worksurface protects the furniture and the user from bumps and scratches.
